New Neighbors and Mixed Reality
What’s Inside
This week we talk about two interesting developments in the physical therapy world. A new pedantic clinic opening in St. Cloud MN, and how mixed reality is being used to help older adults with muscle loss.
Why this Matters
It's exciting to see how therapy is evolving both in our own backyard and through new technology. whether it's making care more accessible for families or exploring innovative ways to support aging adults. These changes show just how much the field is growing and adapting.
We explore what this means for Physical Therapy and more below!

Mixed Reality PT helps with Sarcopenia
Older adults with sarcopenia may have a promising new tool to support their recovery, mixed reality. A recent randomized controlled trial (RCT) from Korea explored whether a 4-week mixed reality based physical therapy program could improve outcomes in older adults with sarcopenia.
Participants were guided through exercises using mixed reality technology that combined real-time motion tracking with interactive visual feedback.
Early findings suggest that mixed reality based physical therapy may become a powerful tool in addressing age related functional decline.

New clinic coming to St. Cloud
This fall, a brand-new children’s therapy clinic will open in St. Cloud, specializing in both speech and physical therapy.
Part of the Sevita Health System Pediatric Partners program, director Jodi Hendrickson shared that this clinic marks an expansion of their presence in Minnesota. It will offer a wide range of services aimed especially at children from birth up to 21 years old.
While the clinic won’t have a physical therapist on-site at opening, they plan to add one by 2026 and continue growing to meet the community’s needs.
We’re excited to see how this new resource will support children and families in our area!

Exercise of the Week
Wall Angles
Why it’s awesome:
Posture, shoulder mobility, and upper back activation great for desk workers and anyone with tight shoulders.
How to do it:
Stand with your back flat against a wall, feet about 6 inches away.
Keep your lower back, shoulders, and head touching the wall.
Raise your arms to form a "goalpost" shape (elbows bent at 90°).
Slowly slide your arms up the wall, like making a snow angel.
Stop if your back starts to arch off the wall — go as far as comfortable.
Lower your arms back down.
Give it a try this week and feel the difference!
